homework!

Three students have to write a make up test. Mark scored 24/60 on his first test and 32/40 on his make up test. Jake scored 35/70 on his first test and 54/60 on his makeup test. Marilyn scored 27/90 on her first test and 45/50 on her second test.
Which student improved the most and by what percentage?

mark 1st)24/60=2/5=40%
mark 2nd)32/40=4/5=80%
an increase of 40%

jake 1st)35/70=1/2=50%
jake 2nd)54/60=9/10=90%
an increase of 40%

marilyn 1st)27/90=3/10=30%
marilyn 2nd)45/50=9/10=90%
an increase of 60%

therefore marilyn's score improved the most by 60%

Jake
35/70 id half=50%
54%60=.9 so it's 90%
90-50=40

Mark
24/60=.4 so it's 40%
32/40=.8 so it's 80%
80-40=40

Marilyn
27/90=.3 so it's 30 percent
45/50=.90 so it's 90%
90-30=60

MARILYN IMPROVED The MOST
JAke And Mark only scored 40%
as Marilyn scored 60% better.

It still proves nothing because each first and make up test could be harder or extremely easy. It also could be a whole different subjects.
