ann's scribble

In math class we made those folded up pieces of paper booklets.

To make them you have to hamburger fold the paper twice then fold it into thirds. When you open it up there should be 12 squares. Then fold the bottom row of 4 up and the top row of 4 down so u should have a 'mouth' that opens up.

On the cover write each of these in a seperate box:

1 step equation using + or -

1 step equation using x or ÷

2 step equations

Distributive Property

Now on the inside of the top 'lip' write of each of these questions in each topic and solve:

1 step equations using + or -
x+6=10; x-7=30

1 step equations using x or ÷
x÷10=30; 3x=24

2 step equations
2x+5=15; x÷3+10=40

distributive property
3(x=3)

On the topside of the bottom 'lip' write the word explanation to each topic:

1 step equation using + or -
1.Isolate the variable
2.cancel using an oppistite
3.balance
4.substitue to check

1 step equation using x or ÷
1.isolate the variable
2.cancel using an oppistie
3.balance
4.substitute to check

2 step equations
1.isolate the variable
2.cancel the interger first
3.balance
4.isolate the variable
5.cancel the multiplier or divisor second
6.balance
7.substitute to check answer

Distributive Property
1. 2 terms inside the brackets
2.multiply the first and second term by the multiplier
3.get rid of the brackets in the expression

Now open up the bottom lip and in the middle row you write each of these questions that have a negitive sign in them and i'll solve it for u ppl.

1 step equations using + or -
-x+6=10 -6
-6
-x= 4
/-1 /-1

x=-4

-x-3=12+3
+3

-x= 15
x= -15

1 step equations using x or ÷
-3x=12/-3
/-3

x=-4

x/-4=7(-4)
(-4)

x= -28

2 step equations

-4x+3=-17 +3/-4
/-4 +3

x= -20/-4= 5

distributive property

-3(x+6)

-3(-x-6)

Now write this stuff under the right topics on the bottom inside 'lip'

1 step equations using + or -

-x=4 is not done
-x means (-1)(x) or -1 times x
divide both sides by -1

1 step equations using x or ÷

whatever u multiply or divide by use the same interger to get a positive variable
-3x/-3 NOT -3x/3

2 step equations

cancel interger
balance
cancel what is attached to the variable
dont forget the interger rules

distributive property

1 negitive sign (odd #) negitive answer
2 negitive signs (even #) postive answer

And thats it really. sry if u wanted sumthing visual mr harbeck but im to lazy to do something like that.
The next scribe is ... Sachelle
