Dilly's Scribbles via Harbeck

Well mabck in the day, we learned how to solve equations. First Mr. P taught us how to do one step equations with adding, subtracting multiplying and dividing.

Adding 4 + x = 20
4 + x -4 = 20 -4
x = 16

Subtracting x - 5 = 2
x - 5 +5 = 2 +5
x = 7

Multiplying 3x = 24
3x/3 = 24/3
x = 8

Division x/7 = 6
(7)x/7 = (7)6
x = 42
He also told us that when you do 2 or more step equations we isolate the variable and use coefficient first ( aka reverse order of operations)

7x + 9 = 30
7x + 9 -9 = 30 -9
7x = 21
7x/7 = 21
/7

x=3
