Dions growing geometry page thing!

Day one

Rectangle
A=LxW
A=5x5
A=25

Triangle
A=1/2xBxH
A=1/2x5x5
A=1/2x25
A=12.5

Relation:
The triangles are half of some rectangle

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day two
4)

One way would be to find the area of eack rectangle:
1st- 5x10=50
2nd- 5x8=40
then add; =90
area=90
OR
whats the total?10x10=100
whats missing? 5x2=10
subtract =90
TaDa!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok so a parralelogram has a base of 2 and a height of 1
So cut of one of the pointy sides and stick onto the other side to make a rectangle
The Base of the rectangle is 2 and the height is 1
The area is 2
or... just muliply the base and the height without cutting anyhitng.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok a way you can find out the TSA (total surface area) of a 3d rec. prism is you can go:
If L=1 W=2 D=3
Draw each of the sides and fiqure out the area of each rectangles
Two would be
LxW 1x2x2=4
Two would be
WxD 2x3x2=12
Two would be
LxD 1x3x2=6
The tsa is 22
(u multiply each thing by 2 because there are 2 of each side)
Its hard to do still without pics.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To find the Tsa of a triangular prism if the
h=1cm
l=3cm
b=2cm
w=4cm
First fiqure out the area of the 2 triangles.
1/2xBxHx2
1/2x2x1x2
a=4
now...two rectangles are equal
LxWx2
3x4x2
a=24
now the odd rectangle
BxW
2x4
a=8
now add them all up
8+24+2=34cm(squared)
the tsa of the triangular prism are 34cm(squared)
--------------------------------------------------

The realtion between a circle and a square is...
To get the area of a circle Its Pi r r
Say the radius of the circle is one so the side length of the square is one
The area of the circle would be 3.14
the area of the square would be 1
Three squares would be able to fit inside of this circle with a little left over
so u would just have to multiply the area of the square by Pi to get the area of a circle

Thanks very much folks!
--------------------------------------------------
Its not over yet...
extra stuff time!
1)rec l-5 w-4
tri b-5 h-2
or
rec l-2 w-1
tri b-2 h-23
or
rec l-4 w-3
tri b-4 -6.5

2)im goin to gues its 5cm by 3cm so it would be7.5m by 4.5m

3)I estimate it would be 9 squares because it looked like it was too blocks down by three for the rec. part and three would fit else where

Very cool that you can do your assignments on blog. Too bad the edit is not working right now. :) Keep up the good work Dion.
