Sammie's Fraction Growing Post

2. Improper fractions and mixed numbers are the same because, improper fractions are mixed fractions with the dividing the numerator and the denominator to get the whole number.

4. A) Susan was making a cake. She needed 3/4 of a cup of milk, 2/3 of a cup of butter, and needed 1/4 of a cup of baking soda. How many ingriedents alltogether does she need. B) Nikki wants to go to Alberta. It takes 30 1/4 hours to get there and back but if he stops at a gas station and gets at Alberta in 43 2/4 hours how long did he stay at the gas station?

9/12+8/12+3/12=20/12
20/12=1 2/3
she will need 1 2/3 of ingriedents.
4.b) 43 2/4-30 1/4=13 1/4
he stayed at the gas station for 13 1/4 hours.

denom=12 numerator=12+8
=20/12 dats improper.
= 1 2/3

b)30 1/4 subtracted by 43 2/4 gives you 13 1/4 . which is how many hours he stayed at the gas station.
